Kyon and Yuki were walking to school together. They walked up to a bridge between two steep hills.

"This bridge hasn't been painted in years," Kyon said. "I hope the city is at least inspecting its public works."

Yuki walked up to one railing, rested a hand on it, and effortlessly rattled the entire bridge with her alien strength.

Kyon struggled for balance. "What did you do that for!?"

"This structure is in danger of collapsing within the next ninety days," Yuki said emotionlessly.

Kyon gasped. "What should we do!?"

"Perhaps we should find another route to school," Yuki suggested.
