fic_variations Prompt/Claim: Magic // Thelma Bates
Spoilers: Contains spoilers for the entire series
Warnings: n/a
Author's Notes: Set just before the series starts.
The closest thing that Thelma Bates had ever come to magic was meeting Cassie Hughes. They had met and instantly they had clicked. And a few months later when Thelma had fallen head over heels in love with Cassie, she didn’t freak out. Instead Cassie had given her best friend a sad smile and told her that they’d always be friends but friendship was all that Cassie could give her. And Thelma being Thelma (and the eternal optimist) had accepted everything that Cassie could and would offer, even as Cassie wove a spell around them that bound them tighter than any physical act of intimacy could.
Title: After

fic_variations Prompt/Claim: Magic // Thelma Bates
Spoilers: Contains general spoilers for the entire series.
Warnings: n/a
Author's Notes: Follows Before and is set just after they find out that Cassie is a witch.
Magic, the real stuff and not the hocus pocus of make believe, has become a central part of her life. And it makes Thelma wonder if Cassie had subconsciously woven a spell that bound them together. Not that Thelma was really complaining if that was the actual case because she honestly loves Cassie. No spell could replicate the love that she has for Cassie. But she still can’t help but wonder if her loyalty and the intensity of her feelings are the result of some spell. Maybe not Cassie, but perhaps it was a spell cast by Azazeal as an insurance policy that would guarantee the fulfillment of his nefarious plans. Not that he would have needed magic since there isn’t anything that Thelma won’t do for Cassie.
Title: Naughty Dreams

fic_variations Prompt/Claim: Magic // Thelma Bates
Spoilers: General spoilers for the entire series.
Warnings: n/a
Author's Notes: Set during the first season.
Maybe she wasn’t a witch like Cassie, but being a ghost did give Thelma her own type of magic. It was a very limited type of magic that only allowed her to enter the dreams of the living. And since Cassie had forbidden Thelma from entering her dreams, Thelma had had to find other dreams to amuse herself with. After all, one could only eat so many crisps well everyone else was asleep. So she took to invading Roxanne’s dreams on a regular basis. Sometimes Thelma would just play the voyeur at the edge of the dream and at other times she’d let Roxanne pull her in as a participant. Either way, Thelma had seriously begun to wonder if the only thing that Roxanne truly thought about was sex.
Title: Persuasion

fic_variations Prompt/Claim: Magic // Thelma Bates
Spoilers: General spoilers for the entire series.
Warnings: n/a
Author's Notes: Follows Naughty Dreams. Set towards the end of the series.
Roxanne had changed in so many ways since Thelma had first met her. Sometimes it scared Thelma how Roxanne had turned from a seemingly sex-crazed and vicious gossip to a truly devout individual who was trying to repent for past sins. If the survival of the world and perhaps even the human race hadn’t depended on Roxanne, Thelma wouldn’t have tricked her into thinking she was an angel. Still Thelma felt guilty for using Roxanne, but Ella had told her that Roxanne was impervious to real magic so that they needed Thelma to persuade her into helping them.
Title: Minor Differences

fic_variations Prompt/Claim: Magic // Thelma Bates
Spoilers: General spoilers for the entire series.
Warnings: n/a
Author's Notes: Set just after Ella's arrival.
There were a thousand differences between Ella and Cassie, and Thelma wasn’t too sure that she really liked Ella with her coldness, hardness and flashy magic. But even Thelma had to admit that with Cassie powerless while Azazeal becoming more powerful every day, they were going to need Ella Dee with her brutal efficiency and flashy but powerful magic, whether they liked it or not. This meant that for Cassie’s sake and safety, Thelma had to put aside the thousand minor differences that made her dislike Ella. But she promised herself that once things were finished and Azazeal dispatched to wherever defeated fallen angels go to, she’d no longer have to deal with Ella.
Title: Minor Similarities

fic_variations Prompt/Claim: Magic // Thelma Bates
Spoilers: General spoilers for the entire series.
Warnings: n/a
Author's Notes: Follows Minor Similarities. Set towards the end of the series.
Thelma could and would never confuse Ella Dee for Cassie, despite the myriad of similarities in the two young women. Ella still had an air about her that was cold and hard, but after having seen her past this didn’t bother Thelma. She would sometimes wonder in the dead hours of the early morning if Cassie would have become cold and hard had she lived. Thelma had come to learn that Ella’s magic wasn’t flashy, instead it was the effective and powerful magic of an experienced witch, unlike Cassie’s simple spells. And with the war between Heaven and Hell just around the corner, Thelma had learned just how human and vulnerable Ella truly was.
Title: Broken Spells

fic_variations Prompt/Claim: Magic // Thelma Bates
Spoilers: General spoilers for the entire series.
Warnings: F/F
Author's Notes: Set during the first season.
Kissing Cassie, even in a dream, was just like magic for Thelma. The feel of Cassie’s lips pressed against her own as the blonde hesitantly traced Thelma’s lips with her tongue was a spell of some sorts. It was magic that entranced and enthralled Thelma in a sticky web of desire. As Cassie’s hands moved up and down Thelma’s spine, it was if Cassie were weaving a spell that Thelma was powerless to resist, not that she would ever dream of resisting Cassie. The only thing that broke the spell was the shrill sound of her alarm at the start of each day.
